How paste, clipboard, and protected fields work

Amnis pastes when it can. It falls back to the clipboard when it should not force insertion.

Updated Mar 19, 2026

Auto-paste when it is safe

If the target app and permissions allow it, Amnis inserts text directly.

That is the fastest path.

Clipboard fallback

If permissions are missing or the target app is risky, Amnis keeps the text on the clipboard instead.

That way the transcript is never lost.

Protected fields

  • Password and other secure fields are intentionally more restrictive.
  • In those cases, expect manual paste or no direct insertion.
  • This is a safety rule, not a bug.
